Custom built ranch designed to reflect the farm houses and open feel of the prairies found in this part of the country. The house is typified by a balance struck between old and new. Stone and wood are essential elements. Stepping inside you will see richly colored Tibetan Slate tiles in the open foyer and hearth.

The living room is a large open space with big window openings with views of the country side. The massive fieldstone fireplace divides the living room and the kitchen. Close up, you can see the trilobites and fossil fish mixed in with the stone. The rough fieldstone of the fireplace contrasts nicely with the smooth, dark labrador granite of the kitchen island and countertops.

There are 5 different types of wood used throughout the main floor. The knotty Alder cabinets are found in the kitchen, dining room, 1st floor den and lower bath. These blend smoothly with the mottled Hickory floor and subtle Birch trim that runs throughout all the rooms on the main floor. Hard Maple is used in the stairway, window sills and the plant shelf that underlines the kitchen windows. The custom mantels are made of rough Cedar.

The kitchen was the starting point for the overall design. Two of its key features are the period lighting fixtures and the large windows that open to the beautiful view of the surrounding country side. The house is sited on a 1.3 acre lot with a view to the east of rolling fields and trees that stretch out to the horizon.

1st floor Master Bedroom with private bath with double sinks, claw foot tub and separate tile shower with body sprays. Huge main floor den/study with a wall of knotty Alder cabinets.

2 additional bedrooms in the walk-out lower level plus a family room. In addition, there is the media room plus, two finish rooms that could be a 4th bedroom and another office.

Main floor laundry provides passage to the attached 3 car garage. Its 12 foot high ceiling provides tons of overhead storage space. The garage is rocked and painted, has a small shop space and a convenient floor drain and faucet for cleaning the cars and boats. Just behind the garage is a detached 12 x 14 foot storage shed with roll-up door, sitting on a concrete pad. The shed was stick-built.

To the side of the home, you will see a patio featuring an open gazebo and fire pit. The back of the home features a screened porch, finished in smooth Cedar, lets you enjoy the view of the horse pastures that extend South for several acres. The French doors from the kitchen/dining area open wide onto the porch and lets in the fresh air and songs of the robins, bluebirds, and cardinals. At night you are serenaded by tree frogs, crickets and sometimes even the coyote choir.

When the birds aren't singing, you can listen to music through the Definitive Technology ceiling mounted speakers located in several rooms on both floors, including the screen porch. These are individually fed by Russound digital A-bus controls, through 16 gauge cooper speaker wire. The entire speaker system was professionally installed and tested for uniform polarity. There is approximately a mile of cat5 and RG6 cabling running through the house. There are 21 data ports scattered across the home so that everywhere there is data access, even in the porch and garage.

The media room features a 65 inch high definition Sony television. The room is wired to support a total of 10, matched, JBL Northridge E series speakers. A high-gain antenna is located in the attic that brings in all the local HD broadcasts. A separate wiring closet off the media room houses all of the head-end cabling and systems controls.

The 6 inch outside walls are filled with fiberglass insulation, as are the interior walls on the master bedroom, the den, both lower shops and the media room. There is an average of 20 inches of blown cellulose in the attic. Just behind the garage is a detached 12 x 14 foot storage shed with roll-up door, sitting on a concrete pad. The shed was stick-built.
